What Material Are The Surgical Rods And Screw Made Of?  

Dr. Lenke is one of the key developers of the new generation of spinal systems called the CD HORIZON® SOLERA™ Spinal System.  As the Next Generation System following the highly successful CD HORIZON® LEGACY™ Spinal System, which became the world’s most commonly utilized spinal implant system, the SOLERA Spinal System offers Next Generation advancement of spinal implant technologies.

There’s two different types of rod materials in the LEGACY System— a mixture of stainless steel and titanium alongside a singular cobalt chrome rod system with a high-degree of versatility.

Approximately, How Long Will I Be In Surgery?

Like all of our patients, each surgical case is unique. The duration for our patient’s surgery will be determined by the severity of the deformity and patient’s needs. Once Dr. Lenke and his nursing staff have reviewed your case and have determined a plan of care during your office visit, we will be able to provide details for your distinctive surgical care.

How Long Will My Hospital Stay Be?

Hospital stays will be determined by the type of surgery the patient has received. The severity and progression of the spinal deformities will determine the amounts of correction needed and this will ultimately determine recovery time within the hospital.

On average, our patient’s shortest hospital stay is 1 days. While our longest hospital stay is 7 days. Patients will receive specific details of their surgery and hospital stay during their office visit with  Dr. Lenke.

Can I Get A Same-Day Appointment?

Unfortunately, the short answer is no. Dr. Lenke and his team manage a high demanding surgical practice. With this being said, Dr. Lenke hosts his office hours on the first Wednesday and third Tuesday of each month. Yes, only two days out of the month.

What does this mean exactly? Well, it means that Dr. Lenke has devoted the remainder of his time inside the operating room in order to provide a higher than average availability for surgeries and help those patients in need of surgical care. Dr. Lenke now operates 3-4 days a week, this is more than any other surgeon specializing in spinal deformity surgeries.

I'm From Out of State, How Many Visits to NYC Should I Plan For When Considering Surgery With Dr. Lenke ?

For those patients visiting Dr. Lenke's practice from out of state, we recommend that you plan for 3 visits to New York.

Visit #1-  New Patient Consultation

Visit #2- Preoperative Appointment

Visit #3- Surgery Date

After Surgery, How Often Will I Need to Follow-Up With  Dr. Lenke?

Our patient's postoperative care will be scheduled as follows:

  1. First postoperative appointment - Are  scheduled 6-12 weeks after surgery date.*  

  2. Second postoperative appointment- 6 month after surgery date.*

  3. Third postoperative appointment- 1 year after surgery date.*

  4. fourth postoperative In office appointment- 2 year after surgery date with xrays.

*The option for Telehealth visits (video visits) are available.
